全球研究與創(chuàng)新論壇2月11在日內(nèi)瓦開幕。世界衛(wèi)生組織總干事譚德塞宣布，將由新型冠狀病毒（2019-nCoV）引發(fā)的疾病正式命名為：2019冠狀病毒病，英文縮寫COVID-19 (Corona Virus Disease 2019)。
譚德塞表示，“根據(jù)世衛(wèi)組織、世界動物衛(wèi)生組織和聯(lián)合國糧農(nóng)組織共同商定的指導(dǎo)方針，疾病的命名不得涉及地理位置、動物、個(gè)人或群體的名稱，同時(shí)，名稱還需便于發(fā)音且與該疾病相關(guān)。正式命名疾病將避免不準(zhǔn)確、或帶有歧視的稱謂的使用。這也為我們提供了為未來其他冠狀病毒的命名的標(biāo)準(zhǔn)格式。”
此前的2月7日，中國國家衛(wèi)健委將這次“新型冠狀病毒感染的肺炎”暫命名為“新型冠狀病毒肺炎”，簡稱“新冠肺炎”，英文為“Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia”，簡稱“NCP”。

And I will spell it: C-O-V-I-D hyphen one nine – COVID-19.
